Miltenyi’s R&D department represents an interdisciplinary team of approximately 350 scientists, engineers and technicians. They are working on fundamental questions in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, chemistry etc. to develop innovative solutions for our customers that are spanning the whole value chain from basic research to clinics. Besides, more than 20 students are presently working on their PhD or diploma thesis at Miltenyi´s. The medical development teams support the initiation of clinical safety and feasibility studies that lead to the collection of data for approval by the European regulatory authorities, and is responsible for the proper handling of non-approved clinical products in accordance with current applicable regulations. Examples for outstanding resources are GMP production facilities, clean rooms, flow‐cytometry labs, Clinical cell separation technology, mRNA expression profiling, transgenic and animal facility.

Dr. Andrzej Dzionek R&D Reagents Immunotherapy

Andrzej is an immunologist and serves as a head of the DC and B-cell group at Miltenyi Biotec GmbH. He completed his M.S. degree in biology in the group of Prof. Andreas Radbruch in 1998 and earned his PhD in basic immunology from the University of Cologne in 2003. He is now working for more than 15 years in the field of dendritic cells focusing on the specific functions of different dendritic cell subsets.

Dr. Mareke Brüning R&D Reagents Immunotherapy

Mareke is a member of Andrzej’s group. She and her team develop automated procedures for the production of dendritic cell vaccines. She has 8 years of experience in the development of medical products. Mareke is a biochemist and received her PhD in the group Cellular Genetics at the Chair for Cell culture technology at the University of Bielefeld, Germany .

Dr. Katja Petry Clinical Development

Katja is Clinical Project Manager and responsible for the management of clinical trials Miltenyi Biotec conducts in cooperation with external partners. In this position she managed several clinical trials using natural or ex vivo generated dendritic cells for the immunotherapy against cancer. Katja received her PhD at the Department of Genetics at the University of Cologne, Germany, with the main focus on immunology.

Dr. Christian Egler-Wedeking Grants & Cooperation

Christian is Grant Manager and is responsible for coordination of Miltenyi´s obligations in EU consortia. He has more than 10 years of experience in the field of science management He studied chemistry at the university of Münster and received his PhD in biochemistry.
